User of the e-stado system about improving the profitability of production

Posted on November 30, 2020 by e-Stado

One of the users of the e-stock system, Dawid Jankowski from Nowy Zalesie in Podlasie, Poland, decided to purchase the equipment in 2019. The breeder in the free stall barn uses 60 ear and 2 tail biosensors.

Since the beginning of using the monitoring of cow behavior in the herd, the productivity of cows has increased from 9.4 thousand l to 10.1 thousand l on average per cow per year, reproduction has improved and its costs related to veterinarian visits and multiple insemination have decreased.

Thanks to the use of all functions, i.e. heat detection, coming calving, observation of rumination and feed intake, the breeder has an eye on the health, feeding and reproduction of the herd 24 hours a day.

– For sure, the most important thing is to detect heat, because I am not always in the barn, but the same is important rumination, time of inactivity, time of food intake – says Dawid Jankowski.

According to the breeder, the system has helped in detecting silent heat and proper analysis of feeding, which is particularly helpful in constantly monitoring the time of taking fodder and ruminating. The e-stado helps to quickly detect metabolic disease, mastiitis or hypocalcemia.

The breeder has minimized the number of visits by the veterinarian, uses much less hormone injections to provoke heat and is always in the barn on time when the cow needs help at calving. From many examples given by the farmer it can be concluded that the precision of the system and useful functions make it easier for him to work in the barn.
